The “Zugvogeltage” (Engl.: “Migratory Bird Days”) take place every October, offering bird lovers and nature enthusiasts the opportunity to experience the fascinating world of migratory birds in the UNESCO-Wadden Sea World Heritage Site. The Wadden Sea National Park of Lower Saxony, located in Germany, is part of this World Heritage Site. The Migratory Bird Days are from the twelfth to the twentieth of October 2024. It is an important resting place for millions of birds that make a stopover here on their long journeys between their breeding grounds in the Arctic and their wintering grounds in southern Europe and Africa.

Program:

During nine days, the Migration Bird Days offer a diverse program including guided tours, lectures, music, exhibitions, and workshops. Experienced ornithologists and nature guides accompany visitors on their discovery trips and provide insights into the fascinating life of migratory birds. Registration:

Information regarding costs and registration can be found on the respective event pages. Registration is required for some events as the number of participants may be limited. Please visit the event page you are interested in for more details. 

Directions:

The Wadden Sea National Park of Lower Saxony is accessible by public transportation (Deutsche Bahn) or car. Larger cities in the region with train connections are Leer, Emden, Norden, Jever, Wilhelmshaven, Oldenburg, Bremen, Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven. The East Frisian Islands can be reached by ferry.
